To nominate yourself or a colleague who meets our eligibility requirements, complete the form provided in How to Reach Us before our grant deadline of December 20, 2024.
Once an individual or organization is identified for potential funding, UP will request a more detailed application indicating: more history of the individual or organization, what they wish to achieve, and how much capital is needed.
Submission of these documents will be followed by an on-line conversation between the UP Foundation and the requesting entity. This discussion is as important as the application form and will take place in January 2025.
In February 2025, grantee candidates will be contacted with their final decision, at which time both a payment schedule and reporting schedule with UP will be determined. The amounts (provided as grants or forgivable loans) can vary from $5,000 to a maximum of $25,000.
NOTE: This is not a micro-loan program (although a great initiative) so individuals should dream big – but not too big! Multi-year funding is possible based on individual or organizational performance. Initial grants are for one or two years.
The UP Foundation organizes a yearly workshop for all grantees to learn from each other and expand their professional networks.
UP Grantees are invited to grow, elevate, and connect their non-profit business with like-minded organizations while gaining valuable insights into business development and marketing strategies.
The conference will foster connections to build strong ecosystems and communities of support, and allow participants to walk away with actionable knowledge to navigate short and long-term business goals.
Once granted, the grantee must set and provide annual goals to be achieved, must agree to regularly check in with UP on either a monthly or quarterly basis about their experience, and must be able to articulate what, if any, difference the funding has made. This will assist UP in determining on how to proceed in the future and refine its model.
During the period of the funding provided, the grantee may be asked to recommend one or two individuals or organizations that they believe are deserving of funding, using similar criteria that chose them. Therefore, the grantee may be both a recipient and supporter of an organization addressing key community problems.
